focus of interest:

  • evolution and ecology of interactions between host animalssuch as birds or humans and their contagious pathogens, and bird-lice interactions in particular;

  • transmission of contagious pathogens to conspecifics as a form of aggression ('spite') in animals and humans, the history of biological warfare;

  • mechanisms of human evolution: eg. fetal/maternal conflict in placental mammals, the evolution of human intelligence under selective pressure exerted by pathogens.
